adamantという単語が出てきています。

この単語、FFでアダマンタイトという架空の素材が出て来たり、マーベルのウルヴァリンの爪の素材である合金アダマンチウムの由来にもなっています。

なので僕はてっきりそういう伝説上の石とか金属の名前なんだと思っていたのですが、普通の文章でも使うんですね...。

adamantは「断固とした、譲らない」という意味の形容詞です。adamant to~で「～に負けない」という意味になります。

ここではadamant about～で、「～のことでは譲らない」といういみで使っています。つまり、「さっきまで彼は城に帰ると言ってきかなかったのに...」という意味になります。
