now that～は「今や～なので」という意味です。

ここでは「さてこれで時間が出来たから～」という感じの意味で使ってますね。

「今や～なので」という和訳だと何となく堅苦しく感じますが、

now that the examination is over だと「試験が終わったので」

now that you mention it だと「そう言われてみれば」

now that I think about it だと「考えてみれば」

みたいな感じで、使える幅は広そうです。
